29th Sept 07:
Try
Tears
(Nehemiah 1:11)
1.
Hanani, Nehemiah’s brother, & others saw the misery
of Jerusalem & its inhabitants. This report caused
Nehemiah to weep.
Our
situation is as bad as Jerusalem. We need to move
from report making to weeping.
Note that Jesus wept over Jerusalem & General Booth
told a preacher he needed ‘tears from the heart’.
Those who mourn are comforted.
2.
The key to Nehemiah’s subsequent prayer is the last
sentence. ‘Give your servant success today by
granting him favour (‘show mercy’ KJ) in the
presence of the king’. The next verses show
God answered the prayer.
3.
What is the key for each of us that will bring about
God’s promises to rebuild the walls of the kingdom
in the UK?
May each of us mourn for
our nation.
